Steptoe Butte, made of quartzite, rises over 3,500 feet amidst the rolling Palouse hills. A corkscrew road goes all the way to the top, but who takes a car when you can walk and enjoy the scenery, the gusty wind and little varmints scurrying around in the bushes.
The cotton clouds weave around the sun creating lovely shadows and highlights on the green and golden hills. It is an open landscape where I can see hills turn into mountains and mountains fade into blue in the distance.
